New training plan starts today!

For the third time I have reset my Garmin half marathon training programme to start ‘now’! Only this time the finish date is the day before the half marathon rather than a few weeks before. I have now used up all my ‘grace’ time.

Hopefully everything is in place now to get going and make it work. I have a gym schedhule and a plan for cross training plus yoga classes and a Garmin update means that I have been able to update the new plan onto my phone so no excuses about not remembering what the workout was supposed to be.

After a rough week at work (due to my abysmal time management) I’m hoping that things are going to ease off for a few weeks so that I can fit everything in. This week I ended up working until 3 am onTuesday am for a presentation later on that day, then Tuesday night obviously tired and went to bed early, Weds am got up at 6 to do a couple of hours preparation for a meeting that evening before a working day which lasted from 8:30 am until 9pm. On Thursday I did manage a short run in the evening but I was feeling grumpy so I didn’t really enjoy it. June and July have been busy months for teaching/learning and planning activities. Now that the summer holidays are upon us, my diary looks relatively clear so I hope to simply go to work with no additional stuff and get lots of training, sleep and healthy food!

Today was a 35 minute easy run, (now done) and tomorrow is a 40 minute ‘steady’ run. I’m not sure how different tomorrow will be from today, as my easy runs are never that easy and my steady runs still involve quite a bit of walking!

Either way, as long as I can do 3 hrs at my current pace or a bit faster for a shorter time I should be OK for November. For the next 4 weeks though I’m not going to worry about that. I’m just going to stick to the plan and take it one day at a time, and see what happens!

About mawil1

Hi my name is julie and I took up running at the age of 46! Hence 'mawil' Middle Aged Woman In Lycra. I did it at first because someone asked me to do a charity run with them. I couldn't run at all, but pride wouldn't let me be seen to be unable to run so I started a walk run programme. I stuck with it and to my surprise I found that I liked it- after a couple of weeks of progress I was hooked! My blog is about my progress in running and how I fit it in with the rest of my life.
