Saturday.

There are lots of different types of yoga practice, but at the class I go to on Sunday’s ( see how I made that sound like I’ve been doing it regularly for years!) Cheryl starts with a bit of lying down, breathing exercise and asks us to ‘be aware of our thoughts and then let them go’. Last Sunday I was nicely relaxed when I found that in my mind I was running up the steep embankment that leads to the canal.

The embankment, there on the horizon. Only about 10m up but its steep!

When I became aware of the thought, it was with mild surprise to find that running had become my ‘happy place’. Especially surprised about running up that embankment, it’s only about 10m elevation but it’s tough! Also it’s next to an old factory site so it’s not exactly pretty!

I haven’t been running there for a while as I wouldn’t run there in the dark, but today presented the perfect opportunity. No ice, no rain, no work, no Son. It was lovely out, and just started to hailstone on the way home.

Beautiful light. Lots of lovely soft colours in the trees but they don't show up so well in this snap.

About mawil1

Hi my name is julie and I took up running at the age of 46! Hence 'mawil' Middle Aged Woman In Lycra. I did it at first because someone asked me to do a charity run with them. I couldn't run at all, but pride wouldn't let me be seen to be unable to run so I started a walk run programme. I stuck with it and to my surprise I found that I liked it- after a couple of weeks of progress I was hooked! My blog is about my progress in running and how I fit it in with the rest of my life.
