My half. (Century)

Yay! Wednesday I made it to 50! Years not miles 😱😱😱

Hubs and I, although married for 16 years have been together for 24 and so we know each other quite well. Well enough for him to say ‘can I do a surprise for your birthday?’ And for me to say ‘yes’ with a medium sized list of caveats ( no skydiving, skiing, sailing or water sports of any kind ie nothing that takes me out of my comfort zone. It’s called a ‘comfort’ zone for a reason). He said to pack my running kit but not my swimming costume🤔 I booked 3 days off work as asked and we ended up here;

Florence! How cool Is that!

he managed to collude with staff at the airport to not mention where we were going-can you believe that! And had me standing between 2 departure gates 1 for Pisa and one for Barcelona, still not knowing which flight we were catching! I was glad that it was Pisa because I love italy☺️

Although I love running tourism, there has been some celebratory alcohol consumption which has not been helpful to grand ideas of early morning jogs by the Arno or around the duomo. However we have managed to do a lot of walking together covering about 7 miles per day.

We have been very cultured and enjoyed lots of art, including an exhibition by Ai Wei Wei which was really good.

Back to normal service and catching up with all your blogs very soon😘🍷🍾🍾🎂

About mawil1

Hi my name is julie and I took up running at the age of 46! Hence 'mawil' Middle Aged Woman In Lycra. I did it at first because someone asked me to do a charity run with them. I couldn't run at all, but pride wouldn't let me be seen to be unable to run so I started a walk run programme. I stuck with it and to my surprise I found that I liked it- after a couple of weeks of progress I was hooked! My blog is about my progress in running and how I fit it in with the rest of my life.
