You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.

Yup I’m talking about my fitness.

I went for a 6 mile walk yesterday. OK it was a bit hilly in places but I found it hard work. It seemed strange to think that I used to run a 4mile route as a regular evening thing. I guess that carrying the extra weight doesn’t help. But I’m working on it. I haven’t gained any weight in the  last 3 months, so that’s good. And if I haven’t got the energy for a run I go for a walk instead. Here are some snaps from yesterday.

I’m working on my writing at the moment. It’s not so good to be sitting at a desk in my free time, but I’m enjoying it, so it’s just about trying to keep that balance between writing and exercise (and work and home stuff!).

Do you have so many things that you want to do that it’s difficult to cram them all in? How do you prioritise?

About mawil1

Hi my name is julie and I took up running at the age of 46! Hence 'mawil' Middle Aged Woman In Lycra. I did it at first because someone asked me to do a charity run with them. I couldn't run at all, but pride wouldn't let me be seen to be unable to run so I started a walk run programme. I stuck with it and to my surprise I found that I liked it- after a couple of weeks of progress I was hooked! My blog is about my progress in running and how I fit it in with the rest of my life.

I tend to try and do it all. Once in a while I realise I’m taking on too much and cut out what I can (I guess this is prioritising?!) other times I do it all and resemble a headless chicken! This is actually my next blog -when I prioritise that!

  2. How about using a standing desk with a balance pad or one of those swiss exercise balls while writing 😃 then you do not have to prioritize that.

I could probably do a Swiss ball but I’d struggle with a walking or standing desk. I’m one of those people who sits down to think or write! But I am planning to get my treadmill set up with a tv screen in the garage ready for winter – this could be my best running season yet!😂😂

BEAUTiful pics… I am the worst at prioritising! I tend to just do what comes into my head. Oh I have post it notes everywhere!

Yes I’ve got some post it notes. Maybe I should have ‘done’ them today but instead I thought I’d do some writing- not so great today it’s taken about 5 hours to do 1000 words and it hasn’t flowed! But it is done. 🙂

  4. I don’t even work, and it’s still hard to do all the stuff I want to do. For me activity really is a priority, though, simply because if I’m not active I don’t have the energy for the rest of the stuff I want to do!

Oh wow that river is beautiful! I dont prioritise I make it up as I go along and if stuff gets done its a bonus!

I struggle all the time getting in everything I want to get done. Work is a given. I have to do that & I get out 4 days a week for a run. But reading, meal planning, vacationing, getting Dr appointments are not getting done as often as they should. I just keep at it hoping to check things off the to do list.

I usually find time to read, a bit of meal planning etc. But then there’s the ‘to do’ list on my phone. Stuff sits on there forcweeks! But eventually it gets done! Sorting out my passport has been there for about 10weeks now- if I don’t do that soon no holidays!
